Why then create another site?
I have been approached and badgered by a number of people over the years, who like me enjoy red wine and want some non-jargon guidance on what wines represent value for money. The aim is to produce a review of red wines, which are widely available from most off-licences and supermarkets in the UK, ranging from £3.00 to £10. Hopefully the site will serve to inform people on their buying strategy for wine and help to avoid any disappointments!
As far as I'm aware this may well be the only Welsh site on the Internet that exclusively reviews red wines. I must stress that no wine is good or bad (unless it is faulty), it's just a matter of personal taste and hope that the wines reviewed appeal to as many people as possible. Four red wines will be reviewed every month.
All the major supermarkets and most off-licences have come on in leaps and bounds over the last 10 years, hosting in store tasting, user friendly labelling, and now virtually all include tasting notes next to the wine on the shelf. This is all very good but I still see a lot of people who stand and stare motionless in the wine isle wondering what on earth to buy! I have been there, and know exactly what it's like. How many of you have never been able to find a member of the wine department in the superstore but when you do the person seems to have little or no knowledge about the wine they stock!
